FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
1. The Griffs Get Back on the Court

The Canisius men's basketball returns to action for the first time in more than two weeks on Sunday when the Golden Griffins travel to play at Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J., Sunday, Dec. 27. The Griffs opened the season with a pair of games home games Dec. 11-12 vs. Marist and have no played since due to COVID-19 related issues with Siena. The Griffs were scheduled to play Siena Dec. 18-19, then moved those games to Dec. 26-27. The Blue and Gold will now play at Siena Jan. 8-9.

2. Brandon Bringing the Scoring
Canisius senior guard Majesty Brandon started the 2020-21 season as the Griffs' leading scorer, and he has held that title through the team's first two games of the season. The Bronx, N.Y., native comes into the weekend series at Monmouth averaging 18.5 points per game, which ranks fifth in the MAAC. In the team's last outing, Brandon scored a game-high 21 points, his seventh career game with 20-plus in the scoring column.

3. Impressive Debut
Canisius junior Malek Green led the Griffs with 18 point and seven rebounds in the season-opening win over Marist Dec. 11 and then followed that with 11 points and 13 rebounds against the Red Foxes Dec. 12. That double-double effort, a night where he matched his career-high with 13 rebounds, was the fifth in Green's college career, which started at Morehead State.

4. Henderson Stays Hot
Canisius junior Jordan Henderson starts this weekend series at Monmouth averaging 9.5 points per game, which ranks third on the Griffs' roster. Dating back to last season, the Cincinnati, Ohio native is averaging 10.1 points per contest.

5. Fritz Finding Friends
Sophomore Jacco Fritz has been credited with a total of nine assists through the team's first two games, highlighted by five assists in the season-opening victory over Marist Dec. 11. He starts this weekend ranked third in the MAAC in assists per game average and his 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks third in the league as well.
