Urbani Agrees to Terms With Wichita Thunder

Former Canisius goaltender Daniel Urbani has agreed to terms on a standard player contract with the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL, team officials announced on Thursday.

Urbani joined the Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and the American Hockey League's Bakersfield Condors, earlier this month as a training-camp invitee before signing his SPC contract on Thursday. He was later added to the Thunder's opening-night roster.

Urbani is the fourth member of the Golden Griffins' Class of 2020 to sign a professional contract as fellow recent graduates Matt Hoover (Utah Grizzlies), Nick Hutchison (Adirondiak Thunder) and Matt Stief (Idaho Steelheads) all inked deals with their respective ECHL teams in the spring.

A native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Urbani appeared in 42 games during his collegiate career with Canisius, posting a 17-22-3 overall record to go along with a .915 save percentage and a 2.84 goals against average.

His best season between the pipes for the Blue and Gold came during the 2017-18 campaign, when he recorded 17 wins and turned in a .918 save percentage and a 2.74 goals against average.

As a freshman, he matched the program's mark for saves in a game with a 61-save effort during a matchup versus nationally-ranked Penn State on Oct. 28, 2016.
