Hanes Tied for 11th After Two Rounds at Cornell

Canisius senior David Hanes is tied for 11th and the Golden Griffin golf team is tied for 10th after the first two rounds at the annual Cornell Invitational at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Ithaca, N.Y.

Hanes, who started Saturday with a two-under-par score of 69, posted a two-round total of 145 after he shot a 75 in the afternoon round. As a team, Canisius' 36-hole score of 596 has the Blue and Gold tied with Siena, with both teams trailing Columbia's "B" team and Binghamton by three strokes.

GRIFFS LINEUP
Hanes was tied for the individual lead after the first round following his 69 in the morning round, his low score of the 2019 fall season and his fourth career round in the 60s. Junior Matt Genaway is tied for 26th in the field after he carded a 36-hole score of 148, while senior Jaret Chipman is tied for 44th with a score of 151. Michael Wells is tied for 58th after he scored a pair of 77s on Saturday.

TEAM LEADERBOARD
Columbia leads the tournament with a two-round team score of 575, which is nine strokes ahead of second-place Cornell. Dartmouth (585) and St. Bonaventure (585) are tied for third after two rounds, while Bucknell (586) rounds out the top-five in the team portion of the tournament.

INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
Columbia's Daniel Core is one of two players in the field to be under par in each of the first two rounds, and he leads the tournament after the first day with his score of 138. St. Bonaventure's Christian Chapman posted a pair of 70s on Saturday for a 36-hole score of 140, leaving him two strokes back of Core heading into the third and final round on Sunday.

NEXT ON THE TEE
Canisius will close out its trip to the Cornell Invitational on Sunday. The third and final round is set to start around 9:20 a.m.
