Golf Opens Play at ABARTA Coca-Cola Invitational

Canisius junior Mikey Takacs shot a five-over score of 77 and freshman teammate Adam Cichowski carded a 78 as the Golden Griffin golf team took part in round one of the 2026 Abarta Coca-Cola Invitational Sunday afternoon at Northampton Country Club in Easton, Pa.

Takacs is tied for 49th in the field with his 77, as he was one of eight players in the field to post a 77 in the tournament's opening round. Cichowski, who started his round with an eagle-3 on the par-5 seventh hole, is one of nine golfers tied for 59th heading into Monday's second round.

As a team, Canisius posted a team-score of 321. Towson is the leader in the team event after the first round, as the Tigers shot a team-score of 289, which is one-over par. Lehigh sits in second place with a team-score of 292, which was one stroke better than third-place Drexel.

William Howard from Fordham is the tournament's individual leader after he carded a four-under score of 68.

The second and final round of the 2026 Abarta Coca-Cola Invitational will tee-off Monday at 9:30 a.m.
