Scouting Canisius
• The Golden Griffins return to league play this weekend after closing out non-conference play with a 3-2 setback to ECAC Hockey foe RPI last Saturay at LECOM Harborcenter.
• Senior Matt Stief (1g, 5a) and junior Austin Alger (2g, 4a) remain tied atop the team's scoring chart with six points apiece.
• Senior Nick Hutchison leads the Griffs with four goals scored and is part of a three-way tie for second in points with five. All four of Hutchison's goals have come since his return to the lineup after missing four games due to injury.
• In goal, the Griffs have relied heavily upon the duo of sophomore Matt Ladd and freshman Jacob Barczewski. Together, the tandem has combined to post 261 saves in more than 530 minutes of work this season.
• Canisius will look to be better on the penalty kill this weekend as the Griffs are just 34-of-46 (.739) in shorthanded situations this season. RPI was 2-for-3 with the man advantage in their victory over the Griffs last Saturday.

Canisius Closes Out Non-Conference Play with Loss to RPI
• Canisius wrapped up the non-conference portion of its 2019-20 schedule with a 3-2 setback to visiting RPI Saturday at the LECOM Harborcenter.
• The Engineers tallied three goals during the third period to erase a 1-0 deficit heading into the final 20 minutes of play, including Mike Gornall's game-winning goal with 2:47 remaining in regulation.
• The loss was just the second for Canisius since the start of the 2016-17 season when holding a lead after 40 minutes as they moved to 39-2-1 under such scenarios during that timeframe.
• RPI was 2-for-3 on the power play while Canisius was 0-for-3 with the man advantage on Saturday. It marked the fourth time this season that the Griffs have allowed multiple power-play goals against.
• Senior Nick Hutchison and freshman Simon Gravel both found the back of the net for the Griffs. Hutchison extended his goal-scoring streak to three games with his second-period tally while Gravel stretched his point-scoring streak to five games with his third-period marker.
• Freshman Jacob Barczewski got the start between the pipes for Canisius and responded with 28 saves.

Scouting Army
• Army enters the weekend in third place in the league standings with a 6-4-0 conference mark and an 8-4-0 overall ledger after posting a 4-1 triumph at AIC on Tuesday.
• John Zimmerman leads the Black Knights in scoring with 10 points while Dominic Franco ranks second with nine as both players have dished out a team-best eight assists this season.
• Zach Evancho and Michael Wilson are tied for second on the team's scoring chart with six points each, with both players tied for the team lead with four goals each.
• In goal, Trevin Kozlowski has started all 12 games for the Black Knights, posting a .924 save percentage and a 1.89 goals against average in just under 700 minutes of action.
• The Black Knights feature the nation's best penalty kill unit as Army has allowed just two power-play goals in 49 shorthanded situations this season (.959).

Canisius-Army Series Notes
• Canisius holds an all-time record of 28-27-6 against Army West Point, highlighted by a 26-22-6 advantage over the Black Knights in the Division I era of the series.
• The schools have been pretty evenly matched in recent contests as the Griffs hold an 9-7-2 edge in their last 18 meetings.
• Canisius holds a 16-8-3 edge over Army at home, including a 2-2-2 mark at Harborcenter. The teams split their last series at the downtown Buffalo venue in Feb. 2018, with the Griffs claiming game one, 4-1, and the Black Knights responding with a 3-2 triumph in the second contest.
• The teams split their lone regular-season series last season at Tate Rink in West Point, with Army taking the opener by a 5-4 margin on Nov. 30 before Canisius battled back for a 4-2 triumph in the finale the following day.
