Golf Closes the Fall With Sixth-Place Finish at Bucknell

The Canisius golf team closed out the fall portion of the 2019-20 season on Monday by placing sixth in the 14-team field at the 2019 Bucknell Fall Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa. The Golden Griffins posted a team score of 292 on Monday in the second round, to record a 36-hole score of 585, which was seven strokes better than a trio of teams, including long-time rival Niagara and MAAC for Monmouth.

Senior Jaret Chipman finished the two-day event at the Bucknell Golf Course with a two-round tally of 145 after he shot a four-over par score of 74 on Monday. He earned a tie for 16th in the field, his third-straight top-20 finish this fall and the 13th top-20 performance for his career.

GRIFFS LINEUP
Chipman, along with fellow senior David Hanes and junior Michael Wells all placed among the top-30 in the field, as both Hanes and Wells tied for 26th with two-round scores of 147. Hanes rebounded from his 76 on Sunday to shoot a one-over 71 Monday, while Wells carded a 74 in the final round. Junior Matt Genaway shot 73 on Monday to post a tournament score of 150, which tied him for 47th in the field.

TEAM LEADERBOARD
The Griffs' team score of 292 on Monday was the fourth-lowest team score among the 14 squads on the course. Colgate shot 283 as a team on Monday for a two-round tally of 572 to win the tournament. Detroit Mercy placed second with a score of 574, one stroke ahead of third-place Bucknell.

INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
Detroit Mercy's Jonathan Brillati shot a two-under 68 on Monday to win individual medalist honors with his 36-hole score of 138. He was the only player in the field to be below par for the two days. Four players finished at even-par, while Chipman ended up being one of six players in the tournament to be five-over for the event.

NEXT ON THE TEE
Canisius will return to the course in the spring of 2020. A full announcement on the Griffs' spring season should be made in the near future.
