Golf Tied for Sixth After One Round at Bucknell

Three Canisius golfers are in the top-30 of the field, led by senior Jaret Chipman, who is tied for 12th, and the Golden Griffins posted a team score of 293 to place in a tie for sixth-place on Sunday after one round at the 2019 Bucknell Men's Fall Invitational at Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa.

Chipman is tied for 12th in the field, just three strokes back of round one leader Max Palmer from Robert Morris, after the Niagara Falls, Ontario native posted a one-over par score of 71 on Sunday for the Blue and Gold. Chipman led the tournament after nine holes with a score of three-under on the front before closing out the opening round of the 36-hole event with his 71, his lowest score in the fall season since he posted an even-par 70 in the final round of the Little Three Championship Sept. 10.

GRIFFS LINEUP
Joining Chipman in the top-30 of the field are Canisius teammates Mike Donner and Michael Wells, who both shot 73 on Sunday to earn a tie for 27th. Senior David Hanes (76) and junior Matt Genaway (77) are tied for 59th and 62nd, respectively.

TEAM LEADERBOARD
The Griffs' team score of 293 is 12 strokes behind host Bucknell, which shot a 281 for the opening round. Canisius is tied with MAAC foe Monmouth for sixth, as both the Griffs and Hawks are four shots back of fifth-place Colgate and five shots behind Ottawa and Robert Morris, which are tied for third in the team event with a team score of 288 after 18 holes.

NEXT ON THE TEE
Canisius will close out the fall season on Monday when the team hits the course for the second and final round of the 2019 Bucknell Men's Fall Invitational. Players will start to tee-off at 9 a.m.
