Five Things to Know Before Canisius Plays Quinnipiac in the MAAC Tournament
1. A Banner Season
• Canisius earned a share of the 2017-18 MAAC regular-season championship last Sunday when the Golden Griffins defeated Marist 98-74. The win, Canisius' 21st of the season, moved the team to 15-3 in MAAC play, where the Blue and Gold finished in a tie with Rider. By MAAC tie-breaker policy, Rider earned the No. 1 seed in the 2018 MAAC Basketball Championship, while the Griffs earned the No. 2 seed.

2. Record Setting, Record Breaking Sunday
• Canisius' win over Marist Feb. 25, was the Griffs 21st win of the year, which ties this year's team with the 1993-94 edition of the Griffs for the school's record for wins in a regular season. The win was Canisius 15th MAAC win as well, which set a new program record for MAAC victories in a season. The 2013-14 team previously held the record, having won 14 league games.

3. Three Griffs Get All-MAAC Honors
• For the first time since 2006-07, three Canisius players earned all-league honors when the MAAC announced its all-star teams last Monday. Senior Jermaine Crumpton and sophomore Isaiah Reese earned All-MAAC First Team honors, making them the first Canisius duo to be named All-MAAC First Team since 1995-96. Freshman Takal Molson was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team. He is the 11th Canisius freshmen to make the MAAC All-Rookie Team.

4. Crumpton Keeps Scoring
• Canisius senior Jermaine Crumpton had 13 points against Marist Feb. 25, the 27th straight game where he's scored in double-figures. He enters the MAAC Basketball Championship ranked sixth in the league in scoring with his 16.9 points per game, and his 525 total points this season are the most for a Canisius senior since Billy Baron had 821 points in 2013-14.

5. Johnson is a Historical Helper
• Canisius sophomore Malik Johnson was credited with six assists in the win over Marist Feb. 25, the 32nd time in his career where he has been credited with five or more assists. He ranks sixth in the MAAC in assists per game average at 4.5 assists per game. He is the second Canisius sophomore, and first since Frank Turner, to record 140-plus assists in each of his first two seasons in Blue and Gold.
