LAST TIME OUT
• Canisius women's basketball fought off a slow start and extended its win streak to three games thanks to a 60-48 win over Monmouth in West Long Branch, N.J., Saturday afternoon. 

• The Hawks opened the first quarter on a 12-5 run but the Blue and Gold buckled down with 5:30 left in the frame to post a 14-1 run of its own, to end the frame with a 19-13 lead.
• A strong third quarter helped seal the game as the Griffs outscored Monmouth 20-12, as the team went on to the 60-48 victory.

• Sara Hinriksdottir posted her second-straight 20-point game, pouring in 22 points and tallying seven rebounds.

• Tiana Pugh also reached double-figures scoring 12 and Margret Halfdanardottir recorded 10 in the victory.

• The Blue and Gold won the battle of the glass, taking down 49 as compared to the Hawks 42, while Monmouth turned it over 18 times and the Griffs gave it away 16. 


SCOUTING THE GRIFFS

• Hinriksdottir continues to be the team's most productive point producer, as she is averaging 14.2  points per game and 5.5 rebounds per contest.

• Halfdanardottir is next on the scoring list, posting 8.5 points per game, while Welch also is averaging 8.2 points per game. 

• Canisius is averaging 55.3 points per game and is allowing 63.7.

• The team is shooting 36.2 percent from the field, while opponents are limited to 38.1.

• As a team the Griffs have averaged 36.8 boards per game and opponents are taking down 40.8.

• The Griffs are averaging 16.8 turnovers per contest, while opponents are giving it away 14.4 times per game. 

QUINNIPIAC SCOUT
• Quinnipiac earned its 10th-straight win after it defeated MAAC foe Fairfield on Saturday, Jan. 20 to move to 9-0 in conference play. Four different players scored in double-figures, with Jen Fay leading the way with 14 points. Taylor Herd and Paula Strautmane scored 11 points each and Brittany Martin scored 10 points.

• The Bobcats come into the contest with a league-leading 15-5 record and a flawless 9-0 mark.

• Quinnipiac has three players averaging double-digit points with Sarah Shewan leading the way with 13.3 points per game.

• Jen Fay and Aryn McClure are averaging 12 and 11 points respectively.

• Fay also paces the team in rebounding, averaging seven boards per game.

• The Bobcats enter the Kid's Day match-up averaging 68.9 points per game while opponents are averaging 60.0.

• Quinnipiac is dangerous from beyond the arc shooting 32.7 percent from long range and are averaging 8.4 3-point buckets per contest.

• Opponents have had trouble holding onto the basketball as the Bobcats are averaging 10.5 steals per game. 

SERIES HISTORY VS. QUINNIPIAC
• The series history between the Bobcats and Griffs is a relatively short one, with Quinnipiac having won all 10 meetings between the two squads.

• The entirety of the series has come between 2013 to 2017.

• Quinnipiac holds a 4-0 record at home, 4-0 on the road, while boasting a 2-0 record in the two team's only meeting in the MAAC tournament.

• In the last tournament match up in 2017, Quinnipiac came away with the victory 63-58 victory to end the Blue and Gold tournament run.

NOTING KID'S DAY
• This is the 19th annual Kid's Day for the Canisius College women's basketball team, and the largest in the MAAC, as the event has hosted over 2,200 kids for the nine-straight seasons.

• Canisius has fed off the energy that 2,200 kids can provide as the squad has gone 9-4 in the previous 13 kids days. 

• The Canisius women's basketball team has a number of exciting finishes in recent years on Kid's Day games in the Koessler Athletic Center.

• in 2015-16, the Blue and Gold defeated Saint Peter's 54-42. Crystal Porter's 12 points led the way to the victory for Canisius. Lauren D'Hont neared double-figures with nine points and five assists. 

• Canisius trailed 58-52 with two and a half minutes left against Siena in 2012-13, before scoring nine-straight points to take the lead and eventually setting the stage for the half-court buzzer beater from freshman Tiahana Mills.

• In 2011-12, Canisius rallied from a 12-point deficit with just over seven minutes remaining and defeated Iona 85-74 in overtime. Allison Braun drained a jumper with five seconds remaining to force overtime.

• In 2009-10, Canisius rallied from a seven-point deficit with 40 seconds left in overtime and defeated Manhattan 69-65 in double overtime.

• In 2007-08, Canisius scored eight points in the final 75 seconds to rally from a seven-point deficit and defeat Fairfield 58-57. Ellie Radke completed a three-point play with 3.7 seconds remaining to complete the comeback.
