Women's Basketball Lands Sofia Vitucci

Canisius head women's basketball coach Tiffany Swoffard announced Wednesday that Sofia Vitucci has been signed to the Golden Griffins roster for the 2026-27 academic year.

The first signee of the spring recruiting cycle, Vitucci joins the Blue and Gold as a transfer from Harcum College and will be enrolled as a junior.

A NJCAA Division II First-Team All-American, she scored 20-or-more points on 20 occasions last season at Harcum. Vitucci scored a career-high 34 points in a win over Essex Community College (Dec. 9) and reached the 30 point plateau four times.

"Sofia is a great addition to what will be a veteran roster," said Swoffard. "She is a proven winner that has the ability to score the basketball in a myriad of ways, creates scoring opportunities for her teammates, and plays with the toughness that embodies who we are as a program."

Vitucci was one of the main contributors to the Bears' 28-2 record last season as the team reached the 2026 NJCAA Region 19 championship game. Vitucci played and started 28 games while averaging 28.4 minutes.

Vitucci ranked fifth in scoring with 21.6 points per game while also shooting 49.8 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from three-point land and led the NJCAA Division II in free throw percentage (91.3 percent). A multi-threat guard, Vitucci averaged 3.2 assists per game and dished out five-or-more assists in eight games last season.

Prior to Harcum, Vitucci was a four-year letterwinner at Pennsbury where she etched her name as just the seventh player in school history to score 1,000 points.
