Buffalo Cruises Past Baseball, 14-6

Box Score

The Canisius baseball team dug itself a hole it couldn't climb out of in the early innings of Tuesday's midweek contest, surrendering 13 runs in the first three frames, to fall to Buffalo 14-6 at the Demske Sports Complex. With the loss, the Griffs fall to 20-15 overall while Buffalo improves to 11-22.

Carson Perkins got the start for Canisius and worked two frames, and allowed six hits and nine runs (five earned) as he took the loss to drop to 0-2 this season. Nolan Hunt came on in relief and worked five frames, and settled down after early struggles, to allow five hits, and four runs and struck out five in the no-decision.

Alvin Vega worked the final two frames and allowed four hits, one earned run in his outing.

Greg Dunham appeared to have the same struggles for Buffalo, allowing four runs in the bottom of the first inning to the Griffs' bats but settled down and worked four innings, allowed eight hits and four earned runs in his no-decision. Andrew White came on and worked a frame, allowing just one hit, as he recorded the win to improve to 1-1.

Brian Dudek of the Bulls did most of the damage, rapping out a bases clearing double and triple in the first and second innings, respectively, to finish the day with three hits and six RBI.

Jake Lumley had a strong day for Canisius, tallying four hits in six at bats, to go along with a run.

Liam Wilson, Ryan Stekl, and Jake Burlingame finished the day with a pair of hits each. While Mark McKenna paced the team in RBI with a pair in the contests.

Canisius has one more midweek contest as the team takes on Cornell in Ithaca on Wednesday afternoon. Canisius then hosts its second MAAC weekend series, taking on Rider at the Demske Sports Complex with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon and the finale on Sunday at noon.
