GRIFFS ATTEMPT TO REBOUND FROM 2016
The Golden Griffins lead the all-time history against Cornell 7-2, and hold a positive advantage in the last 10 years with a 2-1 mark, however the last meeting is quite recent, and didn't go the way of the Blue and Gold. Last season Canisius fell to Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y., 60-43, thanks in large part to a third quarter where the Big Red posted 20 points, outscoring Canisius' 11. The Griffs shot just 29 percent from floor against Cornell, as no Golden Griffin scored double-figures in the contest. Canisius however, is 4-0 when playing Cornell at the Koessler Athletic Center and the Griffs hope to rebound from last season and push that number to 5-0.

THREE AMIGOS
Canisius has been bolstered by three of the usual suspects on the Canisius offense, as Sara Hinriksdottir, Maria Welch and Margret Halfdanardottir all average double-digits. Hinriksdottir paces the team with a 15.3 point per game average, while both Welch and Halfdanardottir hover around the 13 point per game mark. All three players have scored 10-or-more points in all three games so far this season. To illustrate how important these players are, through this year and last, totaling 34 games, Canisius has been led in scoring by one of the three players 26 times, or 76 percent.

JILL-OF-ALL TRADES
It's no secret that Sara Hinriksdottir has a diverse skill set but that skill set is on full display this season as she is the only Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference player to lead their respective teams in points, assists and rebounds. Aside from her 15.3 points per game she is a averaging 9.7 rebounds per contest and 5.7 assists per game. Coming into this game she has hit double-digit points, and tallied over five rebounds and five assists four times in her career, having accomplished the feat twice last year and has done it twice in three games this season.

OFF TO A GOOD START
While its incredibly early in the season, there is plenty of reason for optimism on Main Street. After dropping a close contest to Colgate in the home-opener, Canisius has reeled off two wins defeating St. Bonaventure and Bowling Green to improve to 2-1. That three-game start is the best start since the 2013-14 season. Canisius has a chance to improve to 3-1 for the first time since... you guessed it, 2013-14. 2015 was also a good year for the Blue and Gold when it came to its non-conference slate, going 7-4 in that stretch, the best record outside of the MAAC since the 2008-09 year when the team won 10 in non-conference action.

ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE A FRESHMAN?
On the roster Olivia Vernon is listed as a freshman, but if you've watched her play, especially in the last two games, you may not be able to tell. Vernon has started all three games, and is ranked fourth in points per game with a 7.0 mark. She was a huge part of the team's win over St. Bonaventure last Wednesday, putting in the game-winning bucket in the frame's final minute. She totaled 12 points that day and was fierce in the paint, taking down seven boards. Likewise her fellow teammate Anndea Zeigler has seen ton of game action as well, averaging over 15 minutes per game and is averaging six points per game for the Blue and Gold. They allowed the Griffs to have a deeper bench and keep its team more fresh than in years past.
