Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Canisius Baseball program dropped its first doubleheader of the season on Saturday, as the squad lost to No. 15 Michigan 6-2 in the first contest and 3-0 in the second game in Port St. Lucie Fla. With the pair of losses the Griffs drop to 0-3 on the season while Michigan improves to 3-0.

While the result was the same, the pitching and hitting both looked more in synch on Saturday, as the Blue and Gold sent starters Josh Shepley and J.P. Stevenson to the mound.

In the first contest Shepley got the start and pitched 4.2 innings and allowed six hits and six earned runs for the Blue and Gold, while Michael Ginther came in and pitched 1.1 innings, and didn't yield a hit or run the rest of the way.

Likewise in game two, Stevenson saw his first action and pitched admirably, finishing with 5.1 innings pitched, seven hits allowed, two runs with just one earned. He also fanned four batters.

Tyler Smith came on in relief and pitched 2.2 innings, and held the Wolverines to just one hit, and struck out five batters.

Michigan stifled the Griffs offense in the first game, as Ryan Nutof pitched near flawless for the Wolverines, going four innings and allowing no hits and one unearned run, while walking two batters.

Michael Hendrickson came on in relief and yielded all three hits to the Blue and Gold, and the only earned run allowed by Michigan.

In game two, the quartet of Evan Hill, William Tribucher, Mac Lozer, Bryan Pall allowed nine hits but held Canisius scoreless.

Tribucher proved to the pitcher of record, throwing two innings and striking out three. Pall recorded the saving going two innings, allowing just one hit and fanning two.

The second game is where the Griffs bats started to find their mark, as a trio of Griffs rapped out two hits apice. John Conti went 2-of-5 from the dish, while Tim Kensinger and Ryan Stekl went 2-of-4 Anthony Massicci also recorded an impressive double in the two-game finale.

The Griffs will be back at in on Sunday as the squad looks to take the final matchup of the four-game set, as the two teams will go at it at 11 a.m. at Legends Field.
