The Canisius baseball team scored two runs in the ninth but the rally came up short as the Griffs fell to Monmouth, 10-9 to complete the three-game series. Kyle Perry and Dan Shea led Monmouth with three RBI each. Five players rapped out two hits apiece as Grant Lamberton, Chris Gaetano, Perry, Shea and Christian Holland all recorded a pair.

Monmouth got out to an early 5-0 lead in the first two innings. Perry knocked in two RBI in the first inning along with an RBI single by Shea and the Hawks added in the second as Lamberton and Gaetano both singled to drive in runs to make it 5-1 after two innings.

The Griffs fought back in the top of the fifth as Jack Massa got the rally started, as he was hit with a pitch with the bases loaded. Following a pitching change, Panas singled to left to drive in another run. Anthony Massicci reached the way of the walk as another run scored and Zach Garick drove in the final run of the inning as he flied out to centerfield and Massa crossed the plate.

With the score tied 5-5, the Griffs didn't relent in the sixth as Panas struck again with a single to right field as he drove in a pair to give the Griffs their first lead of the game, 7-5.

Monmouth went on to score a run in the seventh and exploded for four runs in the eighth to take the lead and hold it the rest of the way.
