Baseball Drops a Pair to George Mason and Delaware

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Canisius baseball team dropped a pair neutral-site games on Saturday, as the Golden Griffins fell to George Mason 13-3 before losing to Delaware by a 5-1 count. The loss to George Mason to start the day ended the team's three-game winning streak, and the loss to Delaware moved the team's record for 5-5 on the year.

In the loss to George Mason (3-5), Canisius racked up 11 hits in the loss but ended up stranding nine base runners. Junior Brett Siddall went 3-for-4 with a double while senior Mike Krische had two hits, an RBI and scored a run. Freshman Ryan Stekl went 1-for-4 with a run scored and senior Connor Panas had a hit and an RBI as well for the Blue and Gold.

The Patriots jumped out to an 6-0 lead after one inning of play and never looked back. George Mason's Kent Blackston went 1-for-3 with a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in the win.

Against Delaware (2-3), Canisius got on the board first when Panas scored on an RBI-single by senior Jesse Puscheck in the fourth, but the Blue Hens scored three times in the sixth and added two insurance runs in the eighth. Panas went 2-for-4 with two doubles in the second game and Stekl also added two hits to the effort as well.

Canisius will close out the weekend road trip in Lexington, S.C., Sunday at 10 a.m., when the Griffs play Delaware.
