Box Score Canisius freshman catcher Jack Massa went 4-for-6 with two doubles, three RBi and two runs scored and junior pitcher Alex Godzak earned the win after he allowed two runs on four hits through 5.1 innings of work as the Golden Griffins ended their stay at the Caravelle Resort Tournament with a 14-3 win over host Coastal Carolina on Tuesday afternoon in Conway, S.C. Both teams are now 2-2 on the year.

Canisius broke a scoreless game open in the top-half of the fourth with a five-spot, and then the Blue and Gold pushed its lead to 11-0 through 5.5 when the team scored six times in the top of the sixth. The Griffs plated three insurance runs runs late, as the team posted its highest single-game scoring effort this season.

Canisius was credited with 15 hits in the win, led by Massa's team-high four. Freshman Ryan Stekl, the MAAC's reigning Rookie of the Week, freshman Adam Tricarico and senior Jesse Puscheck all had multi-hit games for the Griffs, with Stekl driving in three runs and scoring twice while Tricarico had two RBI as well. Godzak earned the win in his season debut while posting three strikeouts as well.

Canisius will return to action Friday, Feb. 20, when the team opens a four-game series against Appalachian State. That series has been moved to Lexington, S.C. Game one of the series is set to begin Friday at 4 p.m.
