Panas Named Second-Team All-American

Junior Connor Panas has been selected a Louisville Slugger Second-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. Panas is the fifth Canisius baseball player to be named an All-American in the last seven years and is the first player in program history to be named a Second-Team All-American.

The 2014 MAAC Player of the Year and a unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team, Panas posted a .362 batting average and led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with six home runs and 51 RBI. The Etobicoke, Ontario native also had a .574 slugging percentage and 16 stolen bases in 53 games. A two-time MAAC Player of the Week, Panas earned Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors on May 5, after going 8-for-11 with three home runs and 11 RBI in a sweep at Quinnipiac.

Panas earned Capital One Academic All-District First-Team honors at the beginning of May and along with teammate Rohn Pierce, is eligible to be named a Capital One Academic All-American on Friday.

Panas joins Jon Fitzsimmons (2013), Steve McQuail (2010), Shane Davis (2008) and Kevin Mailloux (2008) as the only five Golden Griffin baseball players to be named All-Americans in program history.
