Freshman
Rohn Pierce was
named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, the conference
office announced today.
In
his second collegiate start, the Lockport, N.Y. native allowed one hit and one unearned run in his
five innings of work against Long Island. Pierce retired the first six batters
he faced on the day and also struck out five batters in his five innings
pitched. On the season, Pierce has a 2.00 ERA with seven strikeouts in his nine
innings pitched.
Canisius (6-5) opens its 2012 home schedule
against the University at Buffalo on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch for the
earliest home opener in program history is set for 3:30 p.m.
