Canisius College redshirt senior Shane Davis (Belmont, Ontario) and
freshman Shane Zimmer (St. Albert,
Alberta) earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference weekly honors on Monday.
Davis was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week while Zimmer was named the MAAC
Rookie of the Week.
In his last home start, Davis went eight
innings, allowing one run on five hits, walked zero and struck out four to give
Canisius an important game one win in the final regular-season series. Davis
allowed one run for the fourth time in the last six starts. Davis earned his 35th
career win in his 55th career start, tying the program record for career
starts. The redshirt senior threw 97 pitches, 16 in one at-bat. He had two or
fewer walks for the 25th time in 27 starts and went at least six innings for
the 22nd time in 27 starts.
Zimmer led the Canisius offense in six games
last week and the freshman outfielder hit .538 (7-for-13) with five runs
scored, five RBI, two home runs and a triple. Zimmer hit a home run in each of
the final two games of the season, the first two homers of his career. Zimmer
also had three walks and a hit by pitch to post a .647 on-base percentage to go
along with a 1.154 slugging percentage.

Griffins open play in the MAAC Championship against No. 1 seed Manhattan on
Thursday, with first pitch at Waterfront Park in Trenton, N.J. set for 3 p.m.
