Rain Shortens URI Invitational

The second round of the URI Spring Invitational, hosted by Rhode Island at the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, R.I., has been washed out because of heavy rains. The tournament's first round scores will stand as final.

Canisius senior Michael Knott tied for third in the field with his one-over par 72, while sophomore Michael Carrig tied for 10th after he fired a 74 on Friday. As a team, Canisius tied for eighth.

Temple won the team portion of the event, while Army's Anthony Kim was recognized as the individual medalist with his score of 69.

The Canisius golf team will return to the course Friday, April 29 through Sunday, May 1, at the 2011 MAAC Golf Championships. The event will be played at the Magnolia Course on the Walt Disney Wolrd property in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
