CANISIUS HEADS TO MICHIGAN THIS WEEKEND

  • Canisius returns to the course this weekend when the team takes part in the Detroit Titan Invitational at Prestwick Village Country Club in Highland, Mich.
  • The Golden Griffins will be one of nine teams in the tournament, which is a 54-hole event played over two days, with 36 holes set for Friday, April 15.
  • The course is a par-72, 7,142-yard track. This marks the second-straight week where the Blue and Gold has played on a course that measures better than 7,000 yards.
  • Canisius has played in the Detroit Titan Invitational in each of the two previous years, with the team placing 11th in the field in 2010.

GRIFFS TIE FOR 14TH AT PENN STATE

  • Canisius started the month of April at the 35th annual Rutherford Intercollegiate event, hosted by Penn State University April 11-13.
  • The Golden Griffins finished the event tied for 14th with a team score of 945.
  • Play in the first round of the three-day competition was suspended because of heavy rain and lightning. The first round was completed on Saturday morning, and then the second round began in the early hours of Saturday afternoon.
  • In that second round, Canisius junior Scott Moser (74) and sophomore Joe Vogl (76) shot their low rounds of the 2010-11 season.
  • Penn State won the Rutherford Intercollegiate for the 22nd time in 35 years with a team score of 880.
