Senior Cory Conacher of the Canisius College hockey team earned Atlantic
Hockey Player of the Week accolades after leading the Griffs to a 1-1-0 weekend
against long-time rival Mercyhurst.
Conacher recorded a point on all four of Canisius' scores
during the weekend, netting three goals and adding an assist. In Friday's 3-2
Senior Night victory, Conacher tallied two scores, including the game-winning
goal in the third period, and added an assist. In the regular season finale on
Saturday, Conacher scored a power-play goal to wrap up the weekend.
During his senior campaign, Conacher leads the Griffs with
36 points, 22 goals, eight power-play tallies and four game-winners to go along
with 14 assists. His 22 scores this season are tied for the most in the
program's Division I history, matching the mark of Chris Duggan that was set
during the 1998-99 campaign.
The reigning Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year, Conacher
has enjoyed one of the most successful careers in the school's history. The
senior owns program records with 141 career points, 61 career goals and 12
career game-winning tallies. In addition to his single-season record of 22
goals this year, Conacher set the program's marks with 53 points and 33 assists
during his junior campaign.
Conacher and the Griffs open the playoffs on Saturday,
playing local rival Niagara in a one-game matchup. The two schools will meet in
Lewiston at 7:05 p.m.
