Junior Cory Conacher recorded five points, tying the school's Division I record, to lead Canisius to a dominating 9-3 victory over Bentley on Saturday. With the win, Canisius improves to 8-9-1 overall and 7-6-1 against league foes.
"I thought Bentley did a nice job of taking what we gave them last night," said Canisius head coach Dave Smith. "Tonight we played bigger defensively and took away some of their options. We saw the passion and determination in our guys that helped us get this victory."
Conacher scored one goal and registered a career-best four assists, which also matches the program's Division I record, for his five-point night.
"It's exciting," Conacher said of the record. "I can't take all the credit with four assists so my teammates did a lot of the work for me."
Junior Vincent Scarsella recorded a career-best four points on the night, scoring two goals and adding two assists. Senior Josh Heidinger netted two goals, while senior Carl Hudson, juniors Derek Danowski and Matt Zuke plus sophomore Dave Kostuch rounded out the scoring for the Griffs.
Sophomore Dan Morrison recorded 26 saves to earn the victory.
Canisius grabbed the lead just 5:16 into the contest when Scarsella scored his first goal of the night. Conacher wrapped around the goal and then fed his classmate through the slot. Scarsella then knocked the puck in for his fifth goal of the season. Freshman Preston Shupe also registered his first of three assists on the night.

The Griffs picked up in the second period right where they left off in the first. Conacher scored his team-leading 13th goal of the season just 59 seconds into the frame. Hudson and Scarsella each registered an assist on what proved to be the game-winning score.
Heidinger netted his second goal of the evening 66 seconds later as Canisius grabbed a 5-0 lead. Heidinger knocked in a loose puck in front of the goal with senior Peter MacDougall and Weeks registering the assists.

Canisius would answer right back when Zuke scored his second goal in as many days 76 seconds later. On a 2-on-1 break, Danowski fed his classmate and Zuke tipped the puck in for the 6-1 lead. Moser also registered an assist on the score.
After a second Bentley goal by Justin Kemmerer, Hudson tallied his fourth goal of the season at the 14:50 mark. The senior fired a shot in off a pass from Shupe to give Canisius a 7-2 lead after two periods of play. Scarsella also posted an assist on the score.
Bentley scored its final goal of the night at the 6:02 mark of the third period when Marc Menzione found the back of the net for his eighth goal of the season. Canisius would continue to add to its lead after that when Scarsella posted his second tally at the 8:38 mark. Conacher and Shupe both tallied assists on the goal.
