"Simply put, we didn't carry the things that we do well
in practice into tonight's game," Canisius head coach Tom Parrotta said. "I
believe we have a solid team. We'll get right back to work and focus on getting
better. We chose to start the season with three-straight road games because we
wanted to challenge our players. Now it's time for this veteran group to put together a
collective effort to be better. "
Canisius took an early 12-10 lead with 15:45 left in the
first half on a layup by Turner. From there, Loyola pulled away from the Blue
and Gold, using a 10-0 run over the next 2:24 to take a 20-12 lead. The Griffs
would fight back just before the intermission, trailing by six at 41-35
following a traditional three-point play by Turner. Loyola answered with five
points to end the first stanza and then push its lead to as many as 16 points
in the opening moments of the second half with a 9-3 run, highlighted by seven
