Loewen Earns Goalie of the Week Honors

Air Force Blanks Hockey

The Canisius College hockey team fell to Air Force, 3-0, at the Buffalo State Sports Arena. The Griffs, who could only muster 11 shots on goal, now stand in seventh in the Atlantic Hockey standings and are 10-17-5 overall and 9-12-4 in league play.

The Falcons (15-11-5, 12-9-4 Atlantic Hockey) tallied the first goal of the game 7:37 into the contest. Matt Fairchild found Derrick Burnett in the slot, who knocked the puck past Loewen for his fourth score of the season.

Greg Flynn stretch Air Force's lead to two 3:21 into the second period, firing a shot from the blue line for his fifth goal. Scott Kozlak then added his eight goal of the year with 1:45 left in the second frame to give the Falcons a 3-0 advantage.

Air Force outshot the Griffs, 27-11. Both teams went scoreless in two power-play opportunities.

The Griffs and Falcons wrap up the two-game series tomorrow at the Buffalo State Sports Arena. Game time is set for 3:05 p.m.

Game Notes: Canisius' 11 shots are the fewest in a league game since recording 10 at Army on Jan. 20, 2006 ... The Griffs failed to score on the power play for the first time in six games ... Canisius fell to 8-4-1 at home this season.
