ON THE TEE
• The Canisius golf team returns to the course Oct. 4-5 as the team takes part in the 2026 Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Binghamton.
• This tournament format will be 36 holes, with 18 holes scheduled for Sunday and Monday. Action on both days will tee off at 9 a.m.
• Canisius returns to the Matthews Auto Collegiate tournament for the 14th time. The Griffs have been in the field at this annual event in every year it has been played, going back to the fall of 2013.
• Last year, Mikey Takacs shot two rounds at even-par 72 to tie for 17th in the field. As a team last fall, the Griffs placed ninth.
• In 2019, Canisius ended this tournament tied for the team championship with MAAC rival Rider, after both teams posted a team-score of 285. The 2019 event was cut to just one round after the second round was washed out due to rain.

LAST TIME OUT
• Canisius tied for fifth at the 54-hole John MacDonald Temple Invitational Sept. 21-22.
• The Griffs tied with LaSalle with a three-round score of 875. That team score stands as the lowest 54-hole tournament score for Canisius since the Blue and Gold posted an 872 at the 2009 Bucknell Invitational.
• Sophomore Cole Thompson posted his second top-10 finish of the fall by earning a tie for seventh, while senior Mikey Takacs moved up the leaderboard by 19 places to tie for ninth after he carded a season-low 69 in the final round.

UP NEXT
• Canisius will close out the 2026 fall schedule when the team travels to play in the Bucknell Invitational Oct. 11-13, in Lewisburg, Pa.
