Maddie Fitzgerald Earns Preseason All-MAAC Honors

Junior Maddie Fitzgerald was named to the Preseason All-MAAC Women's Lacrosse Team, voted on by all 12 head coaches, the conference office announced Friday.

Fitzgerald started all 16 games last year and led Canisius with 41 goals, averaging 2.56 goals per game which ranked ninth in the conference.

A native of Rochester, N.Y., Fitzgerald tallied three-or-more goals on seven occasions, highlighted by a pair of six-goal performances in back-to-back games against Quinnipiac (April 16) and Manhattan (April 19) to end the season.

Friday's announcement marked the fourth time Fitzgerald has been recognized by the MAAC during her collegiate career. The midfielder was previously named the MAAC Rookie of the Year and All-MAAC Rookie Team selection in 2024 and garnered All-MAAC Second Team accolades following her sophomore campaign in 2025.

Canisius is scheduled to host Detroit Mercy for its season opener on Feb. 10. The Griffs begin conference play at Manhattan on Mar. 21 and host Quinnipiac for its conference home opener on Mar. 25.
