Women's Lacrosse Inks Six Newcomers

Canisius women's lacrosse head coach Russell Allen announced the signings of six newcomers to the incoming freshman class. All six commits will begin competing with the team starting in the fall of 2026.

The group includes student-athletes ranging from two countries and three states.

"Our incoming class perfectly addresses our roster needs and provides us with a lot to be excited about our future" said Allen. "We always put an emphasis on bringing in not just talented lacrosse players, but also phenomenal teammates with a passion to be great in all aspects of the student-athletes experience, and I have no doubt that we hit the mark
with this class."

The entire signing class is listed below with head coach Russell Allen's take:

Abby Alcala
Notre Dame Prep | Phoenix, Md.

"Abby Alcala is a lefty crease attacker that brings height, strength, and an unbelievably strong shot. During the recruiting process, I was able to coach Abby at a showcase and I knew immediately that she was right for our program. Coming from NPD, she plays in arguable the best high school lacrosse conference in the country and competes every day in practice against other DI players. This will help her adjustment to the collegiate game go smoothly."

Adriana Arthur
Watertown | Watertown, N.Y.

"Adriana Arthur is an aggressive, strong mid/attacker that plays with a level of physicality that I'm excited to see brought to our program. She also has an absolute cannon of a shot and can unleash it through contact. She has grown exponentially playing for Mike Burdick with Lake Effect Storm over the past few seasons. Every time we watched her play, we saw a new aspect of her game grow. We're extremely excited to start coaching her and see her development continue at Canisius."

Brynn Sartor
Blessed Trinity | Grimsby, Ontario
"Brynn Sartor is a lefty mid/defender who is an absolutely phenomenal athlete. She brings blazing speed and a dogged relentlessness to the field every time she competes. She will immediately make us a faster team and her pace is incredibly difficult to stop when she's going downhill. Her ability to put opponents under pressure with her athleticism and explosiveness is such an exciting element to add to the squad."

Delaney Busch
Babylon | Babylon, N.Y.
"Delaney Busch is a righty defender that adds IQ and athleticism to our defensive unit. Delaney played her club ball for Top Guns so she truly understands the game of lacrosse. Her ability to read things a play ahead of others, combined with her speed and grit allow her to be so disruptive for opposing offenses."

Gabbie Guzi
New Fairfield | New Fairfield, Conn.

"Gabbie Guzi is a righty defender from a high school program with a rich history of excellence in New Fairfield, Connecticut. She is gritty, hardworking, coachable, and elite in the clear. Her speed and decision making with the ball in her stick make her a versatile defender who could also be an asset for us on the draw circle as well as in transition offense."

Mia Finocchario
Victor | Victor, N.Y.

"Mia Finocchario is an extremely athletic, explosive goalie with lightning fast hands. She plays in cage with a fearlessness that is inspiring for the defenders in front of her. She plays with passion and her experience as a state champion at Victor High School has helped develop her composure in cage."
