Women’s Lacrosse Alumnae Evans and McArthur to Represent Team Canada at PALA World Qualifier

Former Canisius standouts Erica Evans '18 and Skylar McArthur '23 will once again don the Red and White as they have both been chosen to represent Canada at the 2025 Pan-American Lacrosse Association World Qualifier this week at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, Fla.

Evans and McArthur will be joined on the Team Canada sidelines by former Golden Griffin goalie and head coach Allison Daley '11, who is serving as an assistant coach for the five-day tournament.

The June 26-30 event is an international women's lacrosse tournament that features eight national teams from the Pan-American region. It serves as a qualification event for five teams from the Pan-American region for the 2026 World Lacrosse Women's Championship.

The schedule features three days of pool play games (June 26-28) and two days of placement and championship games (June 29-30). The teams are broken into two pools, with Pool A featuring Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and the United States and Pool B made up of Argentina, Canada, Haudenosaunee and Jamaica.

One of the most decorated players in program history, Evans was a three-time MAAC Midfielder of the Year honoree and the school's first-ever Tewaaraton Award Semifinalist in 2017. The Peterborough, Ontario product finished her career as the program's career record holder for goals (186) as well as the school's single-season record holder for both points (91) and goals (76).

Internationally, Evans has represented Canada as a member of the senior women's national team and the U-19 squad. She helped guide the Red and White to a silver medal at the 2022 World Lacrosse Women's Championship and the 2024 World Box Lacrosse Championships and a gold medal at the 2022 World Games. Evans has been recognized as an all-tournament team selection at 2024 World Box Lacrosse Championships, the 2017 World Games and the 2015 FIL U-19 Women's World Lacrosse Championship.

The Pan-American Women's Lacrosse Championship starts a busy summer for Evans, who has also been selected to the Women's Sixes National Team that will represent Canada at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China in August.

McArthur, meanwhile, was a five-year member of the program who garnered All-MAAC First Team accolades during her final two seasons with the program. The Peterborough, Ontario native served as team captain for her senior season, a campaign that saw her pace Canisius in both goals (45) and points (50). One of just 12 players in program history to reach the 100-goal milestone for her career, McArthur notched a career-best 50 goals during her senior season in 2022.

On the international stage, McArthur has represented Canada at the 2019 Under-19 World Lacrosse Championship, helping the squad capture a silver medal on home soil. She has also donned the Red and White for Team Canada at multiple world lacrosse sixes invitational events over the last three years.
