Swimming and Diving Finishes Out Regular Season Against Niagara

The Canisius swimming and diving teams closed out the 2024-25 regular season against Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara, falling to the Purple Eagles on both sides of the dual meet Saturday at the Burt Flickinger Center in downtown Buffalo. 

The Golden Griffin men fell to Niagara, 238-50, while the women's team dropped their meet to the Purple Eagles, 212-72.

Freshman Daphne Mead claimed the lone first-place finish of the afternoon for the Griffs, winning the 100 backstroke with a time 59.01. 

Junior Emily Blake chipped in a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.95. Senior Bailey Weigand also found the podium with a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly (1:00.03).

On the men's side, senior Ben Yant recorded a top-three finish in the 50 freestyle, finishing third with a time of 21.57.

UP NEXT
The Griffs' season culminates in the 2025 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 12-15, when both the men's and women's team square off against their MAAC rivals at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
