Swimming and Diving Announces 2024-25 Schedule

Canisius men's and women's swimming and diving coach Scott Vanderzell announced the 2024-25 season schedule on Thursday, a nine-meet slate.

For the 10th consecutive year, the Golden Griffins will host all swimming and diving events at the Burt Flickinger Center Pool in downtown Buffalo. Canisius is slated to hold six meets this season at the Burt Flickinger Center, the most since the 2022-23 campaign when the team hosted seven home meets as well as the MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

The 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships will be held at the SPIRE Institute for the second consecutive season. The SPIRE Institute is a high school and post graduate sports performance training and education boarding school in Geneva, Ohio.

The Griffs open their season, their 17th under the guidance of Vanderzell, at home against MAAC rival Marist on Oct 11.

The team continues their home stand the following weekend, welcoming the University of Rochester, MAAC rival Siena and Bowling Green for a quad meet on Oct 19.

Canisius is scheduled to travel to SUNY Geneseo on Oct. 28 for the start of its road schedule. The Blue and Gold return to downtown Buffalo to compete against in-state rival Binghamton on Nov. 2.

For the third straight season, Canisius travels to Cleveland to take part in the Cleveland State Magnus Invitational, which will be held from Nov. 21-23, before closing out the calendar year against Little Three foe St. Bonaventure with a Dec. 3 meet in Buffalo, N.Y.

Canisius finishes up the regular season at home with a pair of meets against regional rivals, welcoming Le Moyne to Buffalo on Jan. 11 and facing off against Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara to close out the regular season on Jan. 18.

The MAAC Championships will be held Feb. 12-15 in Geneva, Ohio at the SPIRE Institute.
