Swimming and Diving Earns CSCAA Spring Scholar All-America Team Accolades

The Canisius men's and women's swimming and diving teams were recognized for their efforts in the classroom as both were named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team for the 2024 spring semester.

To qualify for this recognition, teams had to earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 during the Spring 2024 semester. Of the 722 selected teams from 417 institutions, an impressive 563 achieved a GPA of 3.30 or above.

The Golden Griffins' men's team garnered a 3.53 GPA while the women's squad posted a 3.41 GPA for the recently completed semester. The announcement also marked the 16th consecutive semester that veteran head coach Scott Vanderzell's teams have been recognized for their work in the classroom.

Canisius was one of seven schools in the MAAC to earn the honor on the men's side and one of eight schools to be recognized on the women's side.

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy and professional development.
