The Canisius men's and women's outdoor track teams opened up the regular season this week with appearances in the Raleigh Relays and the Geneseo Early Season Invitational.
The Raleigh Relays were broken up into two days. On Thursday, senior Andrew Perreault participated in the 3000-meter steeplechase, crossing the line in a personal-best time of 9:13.63.
On Friday, graduate student Olivia Moran and senior Jules Jones competed in the women's 5000-meter run which saw them cross the line at 16:54.96 and 17:32.22, respectively.
The Geneseo Early Season Invitational was led by senior Maura Jordan breaking two school records in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter race.
Jordan placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.48, .01 seconds away from winning the event. She then followed that up with another second place finish in the 200-meter race, crossing the finish line in 25.26.
Sophomore Jacqueline Appenheimer also brought home two top-10s in the 1500-meter race and the 800-meter race. Appenheimer finished third in the 1500-meter with a time of 4:42.76. Appenheimer took eighth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:21.89.
Junior Kayla Schmidt and graduate Marissa Silba both took part in the 5000-meter race, with Schmidt placing third with a time of 17:36.78 and Silba crossing the line in 18:02.18 to take 11th.
On the men's side, senior Max Chew participated in the 5000-meter, race taking home 11th place and finishing in 14:57.42. Junior Nick Dauphinee crossed the line in 1:59.97 to place 12th in the 800-meter race.
