Outdoor Track Travels to Bison Outdoor Classic

The Canisius men's and women's outdoor track teams return to action this weekend as they travel to Lewisburg, Pa., to compete in the Bison Outdoor Classic.

The Golden Griffins opened their outdoor campaign last weekend at the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invitational, posting a number of top-10 finishes.

Senior Brody Jones paced the Griffs with a runner-up finish in the 1,500-meter (3:57.21), leading a group that saw three additional Canisius runners place inside the top 10. Freshmen Jack Nesbit (4:01.87) and Tim Lukasik (4:01.93) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, while sophomore Fenway Breckels added an eighth-place finish (4:02.17).

Also registering top-10 finishes for the Griffs, this time in the 500-meter, were sophomore Nathaniel Fisher in fifth (15:05.23) and senior Joe Pivarunas in eighth (15:25.17). Freshman Jaxyn Mahoney continued his strong season with an 11th-place finish in the 800-meter (1:55.85).

On the women's side, freshman Charlotte Keenan turned in a ninth-place finish in the 400-meter (1:00.44), while junior Brooke Podgorski placed 11th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:17.98).

Canisius returns to action on April 17 as the team travels up the road to the University at Buffalo to compete in the UB Alumni Invitational.
