Swimming and Diving Wraps Up Magnus Invite

The Canisius men's and women's swimming and diving teams concluded the 2024 Magnus Cup Invitational Saturday after three days of competition that saw several Golden Griffins reach A-Finals across multiple events.

The men placed eighth in the invitational out of 10 participating schools with a score of 270 while the women's squad finished 10th out of 12 schools, earning a team score of 124.

Senior Toby Mayfield repeated the success he had last season's Magnus Cup, swimming a 51.82 in the 100 IM to place sixth in the event. Mayfield claimed fifth in the 2023 edition of the event, breaking the school record with a time of 52.40. Mayfield bested his time once again in this year's competition, setting the school record in the 100 IM.

Senior Sam Vidal made two A-Final appearances, taking sixth in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:03.13 and finishing sixth in the 100 breast with 55.55 time.

On the women's side, freshman standout Daphne Mead raced in the 200 IM A-Finals on Thursday, finishing seventh with a time 2:05.17.

UP NEXT
The Canisius swimming and diving teams will close out the calendar year at home, returning to the Burt Flickinger Center to take on Little Three rival St. Bonaventure in a dual-meet scheduled for 6 p.m. on Dec. 3.
