Hockey Lands 25 on AHA All-Academic Team; Five Tabbed AHA Student-Athletes of the Year

The Canisius hockey team had a total of 25 student-athletes recognized for their work in the classroom as the Atlantic Hockey Association announced its All-Academic Team for the 2022-23 season on Tuesday.

The AHA All-Academic Team honors those student-athletes who posted a GPA of 3.0 or above for both semesters of the 2022-23 academic year.

The Golden Griffins were tied with Sacred Heart for the fourth-most student-athletes recognized, one shy of matching AIC, Bentley and Niagara, who all had a league-high 26 student-athletes garner AHA All-Academic Team distinction.

In addition to the 25 all-academic team selections, Canisius had a league-best five student-athletes recognized as AHA Student-Athletes of the Year after posting a 4.0 GPA during the 2022-23 academic year.

Senior Keaton Mastrodonato was honored as an AHA Student-Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive season, joining Geoff Fortman (2015, 2016, 2017) and David Baskerville (2018, 2019, 2021) as the only three Canisius student-athletes to accomplish the feat. Senior Lincoln Erne received AHA Student-Athlete of the Year distinction for a second consecutive campaign while graduate student Tyrell Buckley, senior Markus Boguslavsky and junior Cody Schiavon were all first-time honorees.
