Outdoor Track Claims Three Medals Sunday at MAAC Championships

Highlighted by a second-place finish from junior Maura Jordan, Canisius turned in a trio of podium performances on Sunday to close out the 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Morgan Track on the campus of Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md.

In the women's 400-meter dash final, Jordan posted an ECAC/IC4A qualifying time of 56.29 and besting her own previous school mark by 1.31 to claim second place. Jordan was also 1.69 faster than her preliminary run time of 57.98 from Saturday.

Senior Olivia Moran claimed third place in the women's 5,000-meter race, recording a time of 17:18.98. Junior Jules Jones also competed in the women's 5,000 meters, crossing the finish line in 18:09.45 to finish in 11th place.

In the men's 4x800 relay, the Golden Griffins relay team of juniors Ronan McDonald and Kevin Board, freshman Brody Jones and graduate student Richard Moore took third with a time of 7:45.61.

The Canisius men also recorded a pair of top-10 finishes in the men's 5,000-meter race as graduate student Michael Peppy took fourth (14:47.50) and senior Tom Appenheimer placed seventh (15:00.51).
