• The Canisius baseball team heads to the Buckeye State for a three-game set against Kent State March 17-19. Game times are set for 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Griffs have played the Golden Flashes eight times in program history, with five of those contests being held at the Olga Mural Field at Schoonover Stadium.
• The Blue and Gold salvaged the series at Marshall with a 4-3 win over the Thundering Herd in the back half of the doubleheader Saturday. Redshirt sophomore Josh Niles slugged his second home run of the season in the victory while the Canisius pitching staff struck out 11 batters in the win. Senior Tom Peltier threw three no-hit innings in his second start of the week after throwing three frames against West Virginia on March 8.
• Junior Matt Duffy continued his hot start on the mound for the Griffs, striking out 11 batters in 6.0 innings in the opening game against Marshall. On the season, Duffy has posted a 1.08 ERA, striking out 24 batters in 16.2 innings across three starts.

March 18-19: at Carpetbagger Classic | All Day
 
• The Golf team kicks off the spring season by heading to Urbana, Md., to play in the Carpetbagger Classic, hosted by Binghamton. The two-day event begins on March 18th.
• Senior Shane Broad paced the Griffs during the fall, posting a team-best stroke average of 73.6. Broad had his best finish at the Matthews Auto Collegiate, finishing tied for 12th.
• Sophomore Ryan Edholm also enjoyed a solid fall as he was named MAAC Men's Golfer of the Month for September. Edholm was the first Canisius golfer to earn the honor since David Hanes was recognized as the league's top player for the month of October, 2016.

• The hockey team plays for the Jack Riley Memorial Trophy when it hosts Holy Cross in the Atlantic Hockey Championship Saturday at 6 p.m. at LECOM Harborcenter in downtown Buffalo.
• Tickets for the game are available. They can be purchased by calling 716-888-TIXX or by visiting the tickets page on GoGriffs.com.  
• The Griffs advanced to the championship game for the fourth time in program history with a 2-1 semifinal series win over Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara last weekend at LECOM Harborcenter.
• Senior Ryan Miotto paced the Canisius attack during the three-game series against the Purple Eagles, recording two goals and two assists, highlighted by a pair of power-play tallies in the decisive third game.
• Senior goaltender Jacob Barczewski continued his solid play between the pipes in the postseason, fashioning a 1.68 goals against average and .945 save percentage during the three-game series.

• The softball team closes out tournament play when it heads to University Park, Pa., to take part in the Penn State Invitational March 17-19. The Griffs will play UMBC, Penn State, Cornell and Binghamton at Beard Field on the campus of the Nittany Lions.
• The Blue and Gold earned a pair of victories at the Beach Chicken Brawl in Conway, S.C., beating Houston Christian by scores of 2-0 and 7-4. Junior Megan Giese had a strong weekend, posting a 2-1 record and pitching to a 2.21 ERA in 19.0 innings while striking out 13 batters in the circle. Giese also batted .600 (6-10) with two runs, one double, two home runs, a walk and five runs batted in.
• Following the Penn State Invitational, Canisius returns to Western New York where it will host Syracuse in the team's home opener March 22. First pitch of the first game is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Demske Sports Complex with both contests of the twinbill being broadcasted live on ESPN+.

• The men's lacrosse team is back in action with a pair of home games this week as it squares off against Little Three rival St. Bonaventure Tuesday at 4 p.m. before taking on Marist Saturday at noon.
•  Griffs opened MAAC play with a 13-12 setback at Quinnipiac on March 11 in a game that saw the teams battle back-and-forth before a goal late in the fourth quarter put the Bobcats ahead for good.  
• Redshirt sophomore Colin Kelly paced the Golden Griffins attack with six points on a game-high four goals and two assists. Junior Keegan Kozack notched four points as he finished the afternoon with two goals and two assists while freshman Kevin Carney posted his second hat trick of the season, earning MAAC Rookie of the Week accolades for his efforts. In goal, sophomore Tommy Kunz matched his season high with 16 saves.

• The women's lacrosse team opens up the home slate of their schedule with a pair of games against Robert Morris on March 15 and Youngstown State on March 19. Opening draw against the Colonials is set for 3 p.m., while against the Penguins, it is scheduled for noon.
• Senior midfielder Paige Stachura sits seven points away from 100 for her career. Stachura would be the first Griff to eclipse 100 career points since Katie Smolensky accomplished the feat last season.
• Canisius is 10-1 all-time against Robert Morris and defeated the Colonials, 16-11, when the two sides last met on Feb. 19, 2022. Smolensky posted a five-point performance and Caroline Netti recorded her first career hat trick in the win.
The Griffs and Penguins have only played one time prior, with Canisius winning the road game last season, 12-9, on March 19.
