Swimming and Diving Scores Five Top-Three Finishes in Day Two of MAAC Championships

Sophomore Archie Minto earned silver in the men's 200 IM while freshman Lana Janson, graduate students Liam O'Connell and Adriana Bolender and the women's 200 free relay all earned bronze on the second day of the 2023 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships at the Burt Flickinger Center Pool in downtown Buffalo.

Minto earned second place in the men's 200 IM, swimming to a time of 1:49.72, which is a program record. The Burley in Wharfedale, England, native bested his time of 1:50.67, which he established at the Magnus Invite in Cleveland, Ohio earlier this season.

Janson claimed third in the women's 200 IM, touching the wall at 2:05.09. She was also part of the third-place women's 200 free relay, allowing her to claim her second and third medals of the championship on Thursday.

Janson, along with senior Grace Van Buren, junior Jordan O'Connor and sophomore Ashley Allaire swam a combined time of 1:35.08, which bests the program's previous record of 1:35.16 from the 2017-18 season.

Allaire posted a fifth-place finish in the women's 500 free, touching the wall at 5:06.66.

On the men's side of the 500 free, O'Connell claimed bronze in the event, swimming a time of 4:28.86.

Freshman Joe Cooper claimed sixth place in the men's 500 with a time of 4:34.02.

In diving, Bolender earned a bronze medal for the second consecutive year. The graduate student took third place in the women's 3-meter dive with a score of 214.70 after claiming third in the women's 1-meter dive in the 2022 championships with a score of 212.00.

Both the men's and women's teams sit in fifth place after two days of action. The women have a score of 150 while the men have accumulated 151 points.
