Volleyball Lands Five on All-Academic Team

A total of five members of the Canisius volleyball team were recognized for their efforts in the classroom as the 2023 MAAC Volleyball All-Academic Team was announced on Friday.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Freshman and first-year transfers are not eligible for the award.

Graduate student Ella Loussia, juniors Kara Zaucha and Emma Mans and sophomores Ella Bourque and Rylee McKinney all were honored by the league.

Loussia was named to the team for the fourth time in her career while Zaucha and Mans earned the honor for the second time. Bourque and McKinney each earned the honor for the first time.

Marist College led all MAAC institutions with 11 student-athletes named to the All-Academic Team, followed by Iona University with 10 while both Niagara University and Quinnipiac University earned nine honorees each to round out the top three.
