Volleyball Sees Season End at Fairfield in MAAC Semifinals

Katelyn Cook tallied a match-high 11 kills on 19 attempts to lead top-seeded Fairfield to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-15) sweep over No. 5 seed Canisius in the semifinals of the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship Saturday at Leo D. Mahoney Arena in Fairfield, Conn.

Cook finished with a .421 attack percentage while Mamie Krubally added eight kills on a .429 attack clip to help the Stags (24-5, 17-1 MAAC) advance to the title match of the MAAC Championship for the third consecutive year. Maya Walker was credited with 10 block assists as Fairfield combined for 36 total blocks in the contest. Overall, the Stags held Canisius to a (-.058) efficiency.

The Golden Griffins (12-18, 9-9 MAAC) were led by senior Bella Mosquera, who notched eight kills. Senior Ella Bourque handed out a match-high 19 assists while sophomore Olivia Van Kooten tallied a team-best nine digs.

Two 5-0 runs from Fairfield powered the Stags to a 25-14 victory in the opening set. Fairfield continued to dominate in the following frame, besting the Griffs, 25-11.

After Fairfield opened up an 11-6 lead in the third set, Canisius used a 5-1 stretch to draw within two before a kill from Allie Elliott ignited a 13 -3 run that helped the Stags secure a 25-15 victory and secure their spot in the championship match.

MATCH NOTES
• Seniors Ella Bourque, Bella Mosquera and Kalia Reisma's collegiate careers came to an end on Saturday.
• The matchup was the 60th all-time meeting between the two programs.
• Canisius advanced to the MAAC semifinal for the second consecutive season and 15th time in program history.
