Bourque Tabbed MAAC Rookie of the Week for Second Consecutive Week

Canisius freshman setter Ella Bourque was tabbed The Molten MAAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Bourque continued her solid start with 101 assists and 28 digs at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational while playing in all 13 sets. Her strongest performance of the weekend came against Duquesne where she totaled 40 assists, nine digs and a kill.

The Yorkville, Ill., native leads the MAAC in total assists with 215 and in assists per set with 8.96. Bourque is currently tied with Emily Smith of Utah for 43 in the nation for total assists.

Canisius is back in action Thursday when it hosts crosstown rival Buffalo in the first match of the 2022 Western New York Invitational. This will also be the first home match for the Griffs for the 2022 season.
