Outdoor Track Concludes Season at MAAC Championships

The Canisius men's and women's outdoor track teams closed out their 2022 season Sunday in the MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Michael P. Brady Track & Field Complex in Lawrenceville, N.J.

Senior Michael Peppy highlighted the day with a fourth-place finish in the men's 5000-meter run, posting a career-best time of 14:37.30 to move up to fifth all-time in the Canisius record books.

Senior Libby Benzer ran in the women's 1500 and 5000-meter runs to wrap up her Canisius career. Benzer secured seventh in the 5000 with her time of 17:18.81 and took eighth place in the 1500, crossing the finish line in 4:46.64.

School record holder Maura Jordan competed in the 400-meter dash finals. The sophomore clocked in at 59.36, which was good for an eighth-place finish.

Fifth year Leah Wardner came in eighth place in the 800 with her time of 2:20.43.

The men's and women's 400-meter and 4x800 relay teams all locked in seventh-place finishes for the Blue & Gold, while the women's 4x400 relay grouping of Jordan, senior Bailey Pierce, sophomore Katie Gawronski and Wardner finished sixth (4:17.78).
