Indoor Track Concludes MAAC Championships

The Canisius men's and women's indoor track teams concluded the 2022 MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships Sunday at the New Balance Track & Field Center in New York City. For the second day in a row, multiple members recorded personal-best times in their respective events.

In the men's one-mile run, junior Andrew Perreault earned a fifth-place finish, running the event in 4:13.99. On the women's side, senior Libby Benzer crossed the finish line in 5:07.60 to secure 10th place in the mile.

Michael Peppy ran hard in the men's 3000-meter, posting a fifth-place finish with a time of 8:25.55. The time marked a new career-best for the senior and qualified him for the IC4A Championships. Sophomore Patrick Garland recorded a PR in the 3000 as well, finishing the race in 9:09.86.

In the women's 3000-meter event, Benzer and junior Olivia Moran posted PR's with their times of 10:02.28 and 10:32.55, respectively. Benzer finished in ninth-place, while Moran secured 16th place.

The Canisius 'A' team of Perreault, Turner Dirrigl, Richard Moore and Ronan McDonald picked up a sixth-place finish in the men's 4x800 meter relay.

Canisius will send select runners to the ECAC/IC4A Championships March 5-6 in Boston.
