Bourque and Loussia Nab MAAC Weekly Awards

Senior outside hitter Ella Loussia and freshman setter Ella Bourque each took home Molten Volleyball MAAC Weekly Awards. Loussia won player of the week for the second time this season while Bourque was named rookie of the week for the ninth time.

Loussia had a record-breaking weekend, posting 14 service aces with a career-high eight against Rider. Her 14 aces over the weekend brought her season total to 62, which set the program record for service aces in a single season. Her former teammate Hannah Nelson previously held the record with 57 during the 2019 season. Loussia also totaled 28 kills for an average of 4.00 per set, 30 digs and had no service errors in the Golden Griffins sweep against Rider.

Bourque posted yet another strong weekend, nabbing 77 assists for an average of 11.00 per set. The Yorkville, Ill., native chipped in 15 digs for an average of 2.14 per set, three kills and two total blocks during the Griffs victories against Saint Peter's and Rider. Her nine weekly award wins are the most in the MAAC with Iona libero Hope Matschner the closest to equaling her total with eight weekly award wins so far this season.

The Blue and Gold are back in action Nov. 12 for their final homestand of the year when they open the doors of the Koessler Athletic Center to Siena. Opening serve is set for 11 a.m. with the match streaming on ESPN3.
