Bourque Tabbed MAAC Rookie of the Week for Eighth Time

Freshman setter Ella Bourque nabbed her eighth Molten Volleyball MAAC Rookie of the Week honor, the league office announced Tuesday. Bourque leads the MAAC in weekly award wins with eight. Iona libero Hope Matschner is second with seven weekly award wins so far this season.
 
In two matches over the past weekend, the Yorkville, Ill., native has 67 assists for an average of 11.17 per set along with a service ace, one block and 12 digs. Against Manhattan, she had a weekend best 35 assists during three sets of action. Against Iona, Bourque had 32 assists which was the 12th MAAC match this season where she had 30-or-more assists.
 
Canisius heads on the road this weekend to the state of New Jersey for its final two road regular season matches next weekend, begining with Rider on Nov. 4. Opening serve is set for 1 p.m. with the match being broadcast live through Rider's website.
