Indoor Track Closes Out YSU Mid-Major Invitational

The Canisius men's and women's indoor track teams had another strong outing on the final day of the YSU Mid-Major Invitational at the Tressel and Watson Training Site in Youngstown, Ohio.

On the women's side, senior Libby Benzer took home a second-place finish in the 3000-meter race(10:17.52), while junior Marissa Silba followed crossed the finish line in fifth (10:28.45).

Graduate student Leah Wardner ran the 800 in 2:25.12, good for 14th-place.

In the mile run, junior Olivia Moran and freshman Jules Jones clocked in at 5:28.98 and 5:29.15, respectively, which was good for 18th and 19th place in the event.

Junior Bria Jordan established a program record in the 60-meter dash. Jordan's 8.77 narrowly edged out fellow third year member Slyvea Cleary's 8.79, which was set earlier this season at Houghton College.

The men's team was paced by senior Michael Peppy. The Bemus Point, N.Y., native claimed fourth in the 3000-meter run (8:30.70). Junior Andrew Perreault earned fifth with a time of 8:30.97. Fellow junior Tom Appenheimer gave the Griffs a third top-ten finish as he took eight place (8:35.71)
