Cross Country Kicks-Off 2021 Season at Little Three Championship

The Canisius men's and women's cross country teams begin the 2021 season Friday as they travel north to compete in the 52nd annual Little Three Championship, hosted by Niagara.

Being held in Youngstown, N.Y., the Little Three Championship features regional rivals Niagara and St. Bonaventure, as well as the Golden Griffins.

For the men's side, the Griffs look to extend their streak of 14-straight Little Three titles, a stretch that dates back to 2006. In the lone cross country meet held during the 2020-21 season, junior Tom Appenheimer paced the Blue and Gold with a 12th-place finish at the 2020-21 MAAC Cross Country Championships, garnering All-MAAC honors.

On the women's side, Canisius has claimed 16 of the past 18 Little Three Championships. At the MAAC Championships held in March junior Olivia Moran and senior Libby Benzer posted the top-two finishes for the Griffs, claiming 45th and 47th overall, respectively.
