Five Canisius baseball players were honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Wednesday as the league announced its annual awards.

Graduate student Jake Burlingame and redshirt senior Vinny Chiarenza were also recognized on Wednesday as both were named All-MAAC First Team selections after having breakout seasons.

Burlingame has established numerous career highs so far this season, including batting average (.378), runs (33), home runs (7) and RBI (25). The Horseheads, N.Y., native is currently slugging at a .733 clip while posting an on-base percentage of .486. Both figures are also career highs, adding to his 1.219 OPS.
