FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

1. Opening Tip
The Canisius women's basketball team opens the month of December in the Steel City, taking on Duquesne in a road non-conference contest Wednesday afternoon. Tipoff from the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse is slated for 4 p.m.

2. Nice to See You Again
Canisius and Duquesne will be meeting for the seventh time on Wednesday. The series is currently split evenly at 3-3.

Wednesday will be the first meeting between the two teams in nearly 11 years — Dec. 4, 2010 — and is the Griffs' first game in Pittsburgh against the Dukes since Dec. 16, 2009.

Duquesne has been victorious in each of the last three meetings between the two teams. Canisius' last victory over the Dukes came at home on Jan. 7, 1992.

3. Unwrapping December
Canisius is playing on the first day of December for the 11th time in program history on Wednesday.

The last time the Griffs played on Dec. 1 was during the 2018-19 season, defeating UAlbany, 48-42, snapping a five-game losing streak on the date.

Canisius is 4-6 all-time on the first day of December.

4. Double-Digit Rebounds
Canisius has had a player with a double-digit rebounding total in each of its last five games. Senior forward Kayla Jackson has recorded four of the such games, while freshman forward Rhay Porter has the other. The Griffs' five-game streak with 10-plus rebounds by an individual is tied for the longest streak since Marie Warner recorded 10-plus rebounds in five straight games during the 2008-09 season.

5. Rebounding the Ball Well
So far in its three road games this season, the Griffs have averaged 38.7 rebounds per game, which is two more than their average at home (36.7 rebounds in three games). The 38.7 rebounds per road contest are the most by the Griffs since closing the 2012-13 season with a 38.5 per-game average (539 rebounds in 14 road games).
